Abraham Sheloush
Abraham Avi Sheloush passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022, after a courageous 20-year battle with Parkinsons Disease. Avi worked, spent time with family and friends, and attended his synagogue during that time. Avi was born in 1948 in Alexandria, Egypt, and arrived in Israel with his family as the state was being created. He attended school in Haifa and had many friends who enjoyed happy times together on the beach and at parties. Avi was a tank commander in the IDF and served bravely in the Six Day War. He spoke 5 languages, as well as Sign Language. After completing his military service, he traveled through Europe, eventually coming to America. Avi worked in the electronics industry and by the age of forty, owned stores in New York City, Old Orchard Beach, Maine and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He had elegance and grace and will be sorely missed. Avi was a gentleman who treated everyone with respect. He had a great sense of humor, was a wonderful conversationalist, and enjoyed talking about international news and politics. He is our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his wife of fifty years Abbie, his daughter Lea (Josh), his granddaughter Ash, his sister Rachel (Yonah), brother David (Judith), sister-in-law Judith, brother and sister-in-laws Jon, Gali, Josh, and Marilyn Zion. His many nieces and nephews are heartbroken over his loss and will miss him dearly. Avi is predeceased by his parents Lillian and Shalom Chelouche, and his brother Yehoshua Chelouche. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research.
