Anne June Sherr

May 2, 1926 ~ December 3, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we have to announce that Anne June Sherr passed away peacefully in her sleep on 12/3/2023 at her home in NYC. She was only a few months shy of her 98th birthday.
She led a long, happy and fulfilled life.
Her parents were Dr. Saul Nevard ( d. 1944 ) and Ruth Nevard ( née Tompkins d. 1973 ).
Her brother Herbert Nevard predeceased her in 2017.
Anne and her husband Irv Sherr ( d. 2012 ) were married for 64 wonderful years.
Their youngest son Dan passed away in 2013.
Anne is survived by her eldest son Robert, his wife Deborah, her two sons Chris and Bruno, Bruno’s fiancée Deb as well as her daughter-in-law Beth Sherr along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and acquaintances all of whom will miss her dearly and all of whom she loved. She had special relationships with so many people.
Anne was born in NYC on May 2nd, 1926 and she always considered the city as her home. She attended NYU and later earned a degree in Interior Decorating and Architecture at the New School. She served as president of the women’s chapter of B’nai Brith in the late 1960’s on Long Island and was also a partner in a designer dress shop with Lucille Chayt ( d. 2023 ) in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.
Anne was always involved with numerous charities and gave of her time as well; she read for the blind on WNYC radio ( PBS ) for many years.
In 2017 she founded the S. Irving Sherr and Anne J. Nevard Foundation and has personally supported more causes than can be listed here.
She loved to travel, read and entertain. She had a particular fondness for old Sherlock Holmes/Basil Rathbone movies and Neil Diamond. She also loved classical music as well as many other genres of music. She had a passion for crossword puzzles, cooking and just being with the people she loved.
Her love, support, kindness and generosity will be sorely missed.
We were blessed to have had her as long as we did. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, in-law, cousin and friend.
In addition to her home in Manhattan, Anne resided in Malverne LINY for 20 years, Westfield NJ for 40 years as well as spending time in Montecito, CA and Sarasota, FL.
The graveside service will be on December 6th at 1:30 p.m. at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ.
Thank you, Anne, for everything.
Always and forever.
Forever in our hearts and always in our fondest memories. We love you.
So many memories with Danny, Anne and Irv… practically a day didn’t pass that Didn’t hear Danny on the phone talking to his Mom. My favorite memories are going to Broadway and museums with Anne. Being from the South, Anne opened up a whole new world to me, the world of Manhattan and taught me so much about love and life. Sharing photo of Anne and I at Central Park and also one of us at the Broadway show Picnic… such a great lady
In honor of Anne Sherr from Shelly Ann.❤️
