Doris Feldman Bodin of Teaneck passed on Monday, February 19, 2024. Born in the Bronx to Frieda and William Feldman who emigrated from Odessa and Lithuania. She had a happy childhood with wonderful loving parents. She enjoyed working in her dad’s grocery store on Davidson Avenue. Doris also had a younger brother Ben.

Doris enjoyed her college years at Oswego State Teachers College (SUNY Oswego) and liked attending college reunions. After graduating, she became a second and fifth grade teacher at Liberty School in Englewood. She loved the children and the students, and their parents loved her. She was frequently invited to their homes for lunch.

While teaching, she became a contestant on the tv show “Double or Nothing”. She won a toaster oven and gave it to her mother. Her mother plugged it in and the electricity in the entire building went out.

Doris was a beautiful person inside and out. She had gorgeous green eyes and flowing curls in her hair. At a dance, she met a strikingly handsome and brilliant professional engineer. Shortly thereafter, they got engaged on Valentine’s Day and married in June.

The following year in July, the first baby arrived. Two young boys who were her students walked several miles from Englewood to the other side of Teaneck to see the new baby girl.

Throughout her life, Doris was an extremely giving person who frequently volunteered to help others. During the 1970’s, Doris ran a busy three generation household as she invited and warmly welcomed her in-laws into the home. She later also cared for her own parents.

Doris had many interests. For many years, Doris was the Vice President in charge of Programs for Teaneck-Hackensack Hadassah. She created outstanding programs and won many awards for her most interesting programs. She also gave program presentations for the REAP program at the JCC on the Palisades. In addition, she worked as a real estate salesperson.

In 2001, she participated in a stand-up comedy workshop in Tucson. She then performed in comedy clubs including Stand-Up New York, the Laugh Factory, Rascals and Laffs. Comedy became her passion. She loved writing and performing comedy and the audiences enjoyed her act.

Furthermore, she was a wonderful cook whose recipes were remembered by others many years later. Doris always provided delicious food to family, friends, and her children’s friends. She truly made a house a home.

Doris was a wonderful listener, and her advice was extremely beneficial to others. With her extremely kind, loving, and charitable nature, she touched many peoples’ lives in a positive manner. Doris was an extremely devoted daughter, daughter-in-law, wife, mother and friend.

Predeceased by her husband Milton, she is survived by daughter Judy and sons Edward and Michael who will miss her tremendously as her passing leaves a major void in their lives.
