So glad for Dr. Jacobowitz’s life. He was the doctor that delivered both of my children. Wonderful man and doctor. Loved his temperament. May he rest in peace.
I didn’t know Walter as a doctor. Nor as a husband or a father or a grandfather. I only knew him as a classmate at Snyder High School in Jersey City. But we were closer than just classmates…we were locker-mates! We shared that skinny steel locker for four years, making room for each other..our books our coats our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on Tastee Bread. There’s more…Walter played trombone and I played saxophone and many times Walter had to create room in the locker that didn’t exist to accommodate our dreams. He did. For those who didn’t know him 70 years ago, be assured he was a lovely person then, too.
Dear Mrs. Jacobowitz and Family, I am sorry it has taken me so long to write this note, My husband Jim passed away August 4 and I am having a very hard time dealing with my loss. Dr Jacobowitz delivered 2 of my 3 sons, Stephen will be 45 years old in March and Brian will be 42 years old in May. They are both remarkable men, good husbands and dedicated fathers. Even when my husband’s insurance from Con Edison changed I said we will have to pay the the full amount because I can not stopping going to Dr Jacobowitz and I didn’t until he retired. I sent him a retirement card and get well cards too. I met him one day on South St when he was getting a haircut. I never failed ask how he was every time I would go to the office. I think my Jim and the good Dr might have been in the hospital at the same time. My husband was a wonderful man and so was your husband. May they be in peace until we meet them again. Sincerely Lorraine Lawn and family
