Gennadiy Shefter

Gennadiy Shefter, PhD., was born in the former Soviet Union on September 5, 1935. He taught Mathematics at Moscow University for many years and worked as a private math tutor after immigrating to the US in 1995. After battling a long illness, he died on his 87th birthday. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, two children, and five grandchildren. He was the true patriarch of the Shefter family, and will be remembered by many friends and relatives across two continents.
