With heavy hearts, Robert John Assatly, 84 years old, a longtime resident of Palm Beach, passed away on October 29, 2021.
Bob was born on September 29, 1937 to Claire and Theodore Assatly in Ridgewood, NJ, and was raised in Englewood and Spring Lake, NJ. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Michele Kolsky Assatly (nee Berkowitz); 4 children; Patty Assatly Huet (Jean Michel); Robert Assatly Jr. (Diana); Joy Busacca (Larry) and Thomas Assatly; his stepchildren Michael Polsky (Mary Jean); Nicole Polsky Garside (Nicolas) and four step-grandchildren, Jordan and Jake Polsky, Emma Garside and Sebastian Huet; as well as his brother Teddy Assatly and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Avon Old Farms and Babson College, Bob served in the US Army. After that, he briefly worked for his father’s business Dorian Robes. Over these years, he also bought the Sandpiper Inn in Spring Lake, NJ. He then pursued his lifelong dream on Wall Street, where he owned a seat on the New York Stock Exchange for over 30 years. He was fondly known by all on the floor, as “Red Robin,” and was a member of the Buttonwood Club.
Bob was an avid golfer, and most recently a member of The Knickerbocker Country Club, Tenafly, NJ and Bear Lakes Country Club, West Palm Beach, FL. He adored his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. As a loyal NY Giants and Rangers fan and a season ticket holder, he loved going to the games with his family. Ready to lift a hand or raise a dollar, Bob was your man. He also loved to restore antique roadsters and VW Beetles. Even with a flourishing career in Finance, Bob always had a set of tools handy. He loved fixing anything and everything around his house as well as everybody else’s, so much so that he became affectionately known as “Bob on the Job”.
The family had a private service to say their final farewell to their beloved Bob.
