Robert Tobey
December 3, 1936 ~ June 27, 2023
Son of William and Bertha (Annapolen) Tobey, husband of Gail (Schwartz) Tobey, father of Jennifer Tobey (David Stern), grandfather of Noah and Rachel Stern, and “Unc” to many beloved family members. Brother of the late Suzanne (Tobey) Sussman. Preceded in death by cats Fred and Ollie, survived by Rooney.
Bob was one of a kind. He found joy in every day, and his attitude was contagious. He loved to share his enthusiasm for his passions, his many anecdotes, and his experiences with the people in his life. An unwavering Giants fan, master storyteller, animal lover, volunteer, jokester, hothead, avid reader, proud owner of an amazing long-term memory, history buff, beer connoisseur, golf and horseracing expert wannabe, faithful friend, and truly devoted member of a family that he adored with all his heart. He will be remembered dearly and always loved for all of this and more.
In the spirit of Bob’s love for animals, donations to the ASPCA in his memory is suggested.

Grandpa
young at heart
winning a beautiful baby contest! He knew how to work it from an early age.
Very sorry to hear that Bob has passed away.
I met Bob thru Steve Kambour, my neighbor and Bob’s old Army buddy, in the early 2000’s.
We developed our relationship thru our common love for golf. Initially we three plus an invitee made up the foursome and outings were arranged by Steve at semi-private golf courses.
Over the years I grew to know about Bob. His years in the furniture business, his love for cats and dogs and his Animal Shelter commitment.
He was so proud talking about his dad, the boxer, his grandchildren and had a strong opinion on any subject.
Over the last years after Steve’s death it was only Bob and I. I scheduled our outings at Bergen County public courses and eventually
To only 9 holes a day at Orchard Hills in Paramus as age was catching up with us.
My favorite golf memory with Bob was when the time we got to the green at the 6th hole at O.H. and Bob’s putt was over 50 feet away. I told him “I would kiss his ass if he made that putt”. Guess what, he did! Well, I never kept my promise but he never let me forget that moment.
Rest in peace, Bob.
Phyllis and I remember sharing many laugh filled occasions with Bob and Gail.
I especially remember a round of golf when Bob shared some pot.
We had a lot of laughs.
Best wishes to the whole family and may he live in peace.
Photo with sentiment written in my dad’s handwriting on the back. A day in the life of a Giants fan.
