Albert Cohen

Albert Cohen, age 95, of Somerset, NJ, passed on December 19, 2020. Born in Queens, NY, he worked as a Broadcast Technician for CBS in Manhattan. Albert was a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard during WW II. He leaves three children, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Al was a remarkable man, independent to the end. Husband to Sophie for over 50 years, he devotedly visited her nursing facility for almost five years twice daily to feed her until she passed. Al’s work took him all over the world for weeks at a time. After retiring he worked hard to “make up” for his absence with his total presence to all. A creative Renaissance man, Albert possessed a wonder of the world. Right to the end, he maintained a sharp, decisive mind. He loved fiercely and was loved in kind. Faith-filled, practical, humorous, loyal, a true gentleman, a Bourbon enthusiast, and a true “Irish” shanakee. Al was a voracious reader and lifelong learner who listened carefully and entered into every joy and sorrow. He supported, encouraged, and accepted those of us that were blessed to be loved by him. No one will ever fill the place he left.
