Satz, Edward December 4, 1938 – August 2, 2015, Formerly of Monroe, NY passed away in peace after a long illness. The son of the later Augusta Taubman and William B. Satz. He is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline N. O’Malley-Satz and his two daughters Buff Kahn and her husband Steve, Julie Stoltzfus and her husband James and his four grandchildren Ian, Alaina, Jamie and Brooke as well as his step-children Tricia O’Malley, John O’Malley and his wife Heather, Kaitlyn Owens and her husband Michael and nine step-grandchildren: Breanna, Liam, Jack, Quin, Shane, Andre, Jenica, Taryn, and Angelaurie. Ed will be missed by his sister Martha Satz and his nephew Michael and niece Miriam. Ed Satz started his work-life at hotels in the Catskills. He graduated with a BA and MA to teach English and taught at Pearl River High School where he retired as the Dean of Students. He was well respected by students and staff. He had a sense of fairness that brought him a position of leadership amongst his colleagues as their Union President before and after retirement. In the summer, he worked as a tour guide for BISS Tours for over 40 years. He continued his live long appreciation for the theatre, casino, various cuisines, concerts, art galleries, museums, and interesting places to see by planning trips for groups. As a family man, he always looking for some interesting way to spend his time. He was a Mystery Shopper’ and wrote for The Photo News. His love of travel was shared by his wife Barbara who pre-deceased him and his wife Jackie. He belonged to the International Friendship Force which has a club in the Hudson Valley established to develop peace around the world one family exchange at a time. He traveled and hosted people from many nations and found their similarities more important than their differences. He also had a great interest in books, and belonged to a book discussion group for 15 years. Above all he was most interested and proud of the kind of people his children and grandchildren are becoming. He believed in living life for the fun’ of it.
