Howard P. Taxson, 78, of East Windsor, NJ, passed away on Wednesday August 17, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, surrounded by family. Howard is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Susan Friedman Taxson; his daughter Aimee Taxson Fennimore, and husband Tom, from Hillsborough, New Jersey; Lawrence Taxson, and his wife Jennifer, from Vienna, Virginia and his two grandchildren, Steven and Peter Taxson, also from Vienna, Virginia; and his older brother Martin Taxson from Florida and younger brother Jeffrey Taxson from California. . He has many nieces and nephews who love him very much. He is preceded in death by his parents, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Howard was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 15,1943. His family relocated to Spring Valley, New York, where he graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1962. While in high school he enjoyed playing football and competing on the wrestling team. After graduation, Howard earned an apprenticeship at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, New York, as an executive chef. Years later he returned to school at Adelphi University, graduating with a degree in Food Service Management. Howard worked many years as the Director of Food Services in various hospitals and assisted-living/nursing homes. He spent the last 18 years of his career at Saint Josephs Senior Home where he retired in 2018. Howard loved going to work and enjoyed caring for and making an impact on the many residents. He formed great friendships with the Sisters of St. Joes and many of their employees. Howard served as president of The Hospital Food Administrators Association of Greater New York from 1989 to 1990, where he was awarded Member of the Year (1993) for recognition of service, leadership and dedication to the association. Howard met his wife Susan in January, 1967. They had a whirlwind courtship and were married on March 2, 1968. After the birth of their first child in 1970, they moved to Bayside, New York where they expanded their family and lived many happy years. In 1983, Howard relocated his family to East Windsor, New Jersey where he lived out the rest of his days. Howard enjoyed watching sports and coaching his sons soccer team for several years. Cooking was always a pleasure for him. His pride and joy in life, besides his children, were his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Eden Memorial Chapels, Fort Lee, NJ on August 22,2022 at 12:30 PM. Burial will be at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries, Paramus, NJ. The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Aimee and Tom Fennimore, 36 Nostrand Rd., Hillsborough, NJ. Shiva times are Monday, August 22, 5 PM to 9 PM, Tuesday, August 23, 1 PM to 9 PM and Wednesday, August 24, 1 PM to 9 PM. Memorial donations may be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) or the American Heart Association.
