Susanne G. Brunell

Susanne G. Brunell of Demarest, passed away at home on March 13th after an extended illness. Born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1938, Susanne was 84 years old. She had a long career in the hospitality industry. Facile in many languages, she was an expert traveler, seeing much of the world during her life. Her home, however, was her destination of choice. There Susanne was a fastidious and welcoming host. She nurtured and welcomed guests as family. She always offered refreshments, conversations, coffee, and opinions! A true matriarch, known to her children and grandchildren as “Omi,” she formed deep, meaningful, supportive relationships with her family and community. Wherever she frequented, she was warmly greeted on a first name basis. Loving wife of Albert “Opi” Brunell, who passed away in 2007, she leaves behind her daughter Leslie Brunell and husband Joseph Corrado, her son Thomas Brunell and wife Joanne Dianas. She was proud and boastful of her four grandchildren, Sebastian and Seth Brunell and Emma and Sallie Corrado. Her absence will resonate within our hearts. Ciao Ciao, Omi, Vielen Dank!
