Jewish Charitable Burial Society

The Jewish Charitable Burial Society exists to insure that permits to bury loved ones on fraternal grounds are issued in a timely manner. The JCBS holds the maps to numerous burial grounds of many fraternal and religious organizations.

Many years ago, synagogues and fraternal organizations such as the Knights of Pythias bought large sections of graves in various cemeteries. These graves were for sale at a discounted rate or a fraternal benefit to the members of these societies. These societies had members or secretaries dedicated to making sure the graves could be used in their time of need.

Overt time, these organizations began to dwindle in numbers and many of them ceased to exist. In an effort to make sure these graves could still be used, the JCBS has volunteered their services to house the maps and to make sure that permits for burials are issued in a timely manner. Below is a list of the societies that we represent and their cemetery locations.
